Getty Images Crowdsources Music For Ads
2011, Nov 16
Getty Images, along with Indaba Music, is
looking to crowdsource music that can be used in advertisements. Getty plans to
tap Indaba's community which consists of over 6,00,000 musicians. This
initiative will give struggling musicians and singers a chance to rise and show
case their work.
The first step for the musicians was to
create an original pop song which entailed styles of LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem , Jennifer Lopez's On The Floor , or David Guetta's Where Them Girls At . The content created
has been named "The Hot Sound" and Getty has been adding all the tracks to its
existing database from where they can sell it to brands to use not only in ads,
but also for TV shows, films and web content. The next set of songs will be
announced soon.
The concept is viable as music is an
essential part of an ad. Music is one of the key elements, globally, that helps
in brand recall. Even in India,
music has helped a lot of brands advertise their products and create a buzz
around them.
What do you think about this idea? Would you
like to participate in such an initiative? What are your favourite pieces of
music from ads? Let us know in the comments below.
