Google’s New Tools To Track Advertising Performance
2011, Jun 16
Google's on a roll. They announced TrueView
video ads on YouTube, and bettered their Instant Search feature with Instant
Image Search and Instant Pages. Now, the search-driven company announces four more
tools for advertisers to track the performance of their ads, and, if they're
smart about it, receive more bangs for their bucks.
First off, their relative click-through
rate tool offers advertisers a look at how other advertisers' ads work when
placed at the same positions around the Google Display Network.
Second, their impression share tool shows
advertisers the percentages of ad auctions for ad spots, and allows them to
understand whether they're losing auctions due to their budget or quality
score. (To understand how Google's ad
auctions work, check out the video below.)
Third, the content diagnostics tool gives
advertisers a better overview of where their ads work, and where they don't.
The fourth tool is an impression filter,
which shows advertisers when users are scrolling down a particular page, and
when they aren't; so advertisers can tell where their ads will be seen by
users.
These tools can prove beneficial to
advertisers, helping them understand how their ads work and how to spend wisely
for their digital campaigns.
