Harley-Davidson hires a crowdsourcing agency
2010, Nov 23
Iconic brand Harley-Davidson has teamed up
with the world's first crowdsourcing agency, Victors & Spoils, to provide
their customers the opportunity to create the advertising that will build the
legend of their brand. This is a bold step for any brand, but even more so for
a brand that relies heavily on advertising to support the reverence that they've
built over the past century.
It has been reported that John Winsor, head
of Victors & Spoils, sent out a brief to his crowd of creatives, after
learning the motorcycle company had let go of their erstwhile agency,
Carmichael Lynch. The brand was impressed by the 600 ideas received from 200
people, and decided to hire the crowdsourcing agency.
Victors & Spoils was launched in 2009,
by John Winsor, Evan Fry and Claudia Batten. Winsor, CEO, was VP/Executive
Director of Strategy and Innovation at Crispin, Porter + Bogusky. VP/Creative
Director from CP+B, Fry is the CCO at Victors & Spoils. Batten, COO, is a
founder of Massive, which launched the first-ever network for video-game
advertising.
