Meghna GuptaMeghna Gupta, aka meghna9, lets us in on her favourite ads and the inspiration for her winning concept

What do you do?
I am currently pursuing a PGDM in Marketing Communications from Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA).

What's intrigued you about advertising?
People's behaviours have always fascinated me. I always used to wonder how one can bring about a change in them. And one of the ways is through advertising. There are so many campaigns in the world which have, through simple communication, made people change their consumption habits, forced them stop smoking, follow traffic rules, etc. This effect of advertising has always caught my attention.

How did you hear about BrandPotion?
I heard about BrandPotion via MICANVAS, the national level brand management festival conducted at MICA.

Name some ads that have inspired you to get creative.
I personally feel creativity is something that is inherent in an individual. But, there are many ads which I have loved over the years like:

How does it feel to have won a prize on BrandPotion?
It always feels good to win. And when that prize is from a brand owned by the Times Group, the ‘happiness quotient' doubles. This is my second prize on BrandPotion. I love BrandPotion. Thank you so much. I would also like to thank all the people who liked my entries and voted for them. Thank you all.

Tell us about the thought process behind your winning entry.
The idea sprang up when I was working on one of my rural research projects. As a part of my research project, I had to visit a village and that's where, after interacting with people and officials, the idea struck me.

Which software do you use to create your ads?
Photoshop, Poster8 and Paintbrush have been my companions.

Which has been your favourite brief to work on-in terms of which was the most fun, and the most interesting?
Every brief was different from the other and required different ways to think and create ads or write concept notes.

What changes would you like to see on BrandPotion?
Frankly speaking, BrandPotion is doing a great job by letting people showcase their thinking and creative abilities. But it would be much more beneficial if BrandPotion could have competitions based on more strategic elements related to brands. BrandPotion could also have competitions on composing jingles, etc.
