Social media hits the
fashion ramp as Gucci, one of the propagators of technology in fashion, brings
a new concept to fans the world over. Their new experiment in social networking
gives fans of the fashion brand a chance to become a part of their fashion shows.
In the tradition of other brands & designers who've used technology to stand out---like the late Alexander McQueen and Burberry---Gucci's invited their fans the world over to RSVP to an invite for the Women's Spring Summer 2011 in Milan. You can find out more about how you can be a part of Gucci's show at Gucci Connect.
Considering that it's mostly been fashion enthusiasts---the Sartorialist, Gala Darling and Garance Dore, to name a few---who've mastered new media, through blogs and social networking, it's interesting to see big brands involve themselves in social media. As far as social networking sites go, Facebook, in particular, is one where numerous brands---from Sears and JCPenney to Oscar de la Renta and Louis Vuitton---can be found.

Gucci has gone really out of its way to promote its brand as well engage millions of online users to take interest for their products. Sounds interesting
