"BrandPotion is a great platform for any creative guy..."
2010, Jul 12
In conversation with Chander Joshi, a winner in the Print Category for Mumbai Mirror’s ‘Mirror of Success’ competition...
What do you do?
I am currently working for a Delhi based ad agency as a
Creative Director (Art).
How long have you been in the industry?
I have been in the industry for quite some
time now, almost 10 years.
How did you hear about BrandPotion?
Through word of mouth.
Are you a Mumbai Mirror reader?
No, as it's not available in Delhi; but I knew about
its popularity through one of my relatives living there.
What was your initial reaction to the brief? What led to the idea behind your
ad?
I was glad to see the Mumbai Mirror brief
on BrandPotion. The newspaper is a medium that is well-connected with the
masses in any country. As a creative person, for me it was a great opportunity
to showcase my creativity without any boundaries from anyone i.e., client. I
was free to do what I wanted. But then, I was left with a challenge to show how
Mumbai Mirror is more than a NEWS-paper.
The idea clicked when I first thought about
Mumbai Mirror, a mirror that never lies. But the challenge was to connect Mumbai
Mirror with the TG, while the ad had to be something that was only and only
meant for Mumbai Mirror (personalised). Then suddenly, it struck me about the
terrifying incident of 26/11 that shattered every Indian and, most importantly,
every Mumbaikar. With the help of a significant visual, I successfully
portrayed how Mumbai Mirror is the most trusted newspaper that brings out the
truth which is hidden from the masses.
What software did you use to create your ad?
The pictures were treated in Photoshop and
were compiled in CorelDRAW.
What would you like to see on BrandPotion?
BrandPotion is a great platform for any
creative guy and in the near future I would like to see more and more brands
and many more creative competitions on it. Here are a few suggestions:
• Results should not completely depend on
votes or comments. The final judgment should only be made by a jury so that one
gets the real worth for his/her idea/concept.
• If someone wins a competition, it must be
visible on his/her profile showing how many competitions he/she has won.

@san300: Thanks for the feedback. We’ve already started working on streamlining the judging process, which should get the results out sooner.

Great Interview. Yes of course the winners should be interviewed, but the results of contests shouldn’t take so long, much after the deadline.
