Michael JacksonNow show off your moonwalk to millions of people, accompanied by Michael Jackson's new track: Behind The Mask. All you have to do is submit your video on the official website for the music video project. Sony Music, with the help of MJ fans, is creating a crowdsourced music video, where fans can emulate the King of Pop through their vocals, dance moves, or even his fans' reactions.

Fans have to log on to the site, where they have the option of selecting a line to sing, move to re-enact, or crowd reaction to emulate. They can then, via a webcam, record and upload their performances, which will be shown on a spilt-screen. The director of this video, Dennis Liu, will go through all the submissions and pick the best ones for the final cut. The official release will take place in the first week of April.

PSPIn another interesting crowdsourcing initiative, Swedish game developers the Bearded Ladies and PlayStation have come together to crowdsource ideas for their new action based game, which will be used for PSP and PS3 consoles.  In this case, fans can submit their ideas on the Gamocracy site. This eight-week-long competition will feature a new challenge every week, starting with the story and protagonist. Gamocracy has been launched by the Bearded Ladies (TBL) in collaboration with Sony and this project is mainly dedicated to using crowdsourced ideas. TBL will select the final submissions, and put those up for online polling. It is mandatory to not involve violence in the concept, as the game is intended for children.

Interesting crowdsourcing initiatives like these enable consumers to be a part of the process and also help brands gain perspective as to what their audience finds acceptable. We've earlier mentioned Coca Cola and Maroon 5 adopting the idea of crowdsourcing, and how the band is trying to get the fans involved. It will be interesting to see some Indian companies take the same route, and come up with innovative ideas.
