Tamil Newspaper Joins Indian Publications On iTunes
2011, Jun 03
Maalai Malar, a Tamil
newspaper, launched an application on iTunes for its iPad and iPhone users. As
of now the subscription is free of cost and readers will be able to view news
content under different sections on a standard format. Soon this application
will also be available on Android and BlackBerry devices.
Earlier this year,
Malayala Manorama also tapped the mobile segment and launched an application on
iTunes store. Comprising of news content from Manorama Print, Online and TV,
this application gives its brand a true global image. This application is also
free to download, but soon will start charging for subscription.
Maalai Malar isn't
the first Tamil newspaper on iTunes, but it adds to the growing number of
India-based publications on the platform. iPad has been publishers' first
choice to launch their application, and currently Times of India is the only
newspaper to have its application on iTunes, Android and BlackBerry.
