Virgin America Airlines Virgin America, the US-based airline famous for its extraordinary service, has recently created a buzz on Twitter. In a series of promotions, Virgin America offered discounts on their fares and in some cases even gave it for free. The latest promotion named ‘Fly Forward, Give Back' offers tickets at discounted rates and promises to donate USD 5 to charity.

In their 24-hour online sale, users could purchase tickets online for as low as USD 49. It was promoted on Twitter with the hashtag #flyfwdgiveback and also a Promoted Tweet. USD 5 from every sale was given to Stand Up to Cancer, a non-profit organisation. Virgin encourages users to book tickets for themselves and also retweet so to help in spreading the word.

Fly Forward, Give Back made its debut last year on Twitter when Virgin sold their flight tickets for as low as USD 39. That time, the proceeds were given for educational causes. Last year, they managed to raise USD 50,000, all of which was donated to charity.

Virgin America's Offer This isn't Virgin America's first Twitter activity this year. The airline celebrated its fourth anniversary by launching a scavenger hunt at a baseball game (San Francisco Giants vs Philadelphia Phillies) on the social networking site. Participants were asked to follow #FlyTheBeard hashtag and look for photo clues. Users would have to locate flight attendants who were sporting a beard similar to Giants pitcher Brian Wilson and the winners stood a chance to win free flight tickets.

Seems like Virgin America has become a pro in tweeting! They have made maximum use of Twitter and have managed to do it all right. From Promoted Tweets to Promoted Trends, they have covered everything. Other brands can definitely take a page or two out of Virgin's book.
