Walmart And Nivea Gear Up For Christmas
2011, Nov 24 Walmart, the department chain store, is looking
to give out USD 1.5 million this holiday season to non-profit organisations and
is asking its fans on Facebook to nominate charities of their preferences.

From 30 November onwards, Walmart will
activate the Holiday Giving tab on its Facebook page where users can come and
submit their nominations. Based on these nominations, from 12 December Walmart
will announce the winners who will receive the amount. Christened the 12 Days
of Giving campaign, users have already submitted nominations for initiatives like
Breast Cancer Awareness.
Another brand using Facebook to promote
itself in the upcoming festive season is Nivea. The brand has invited its fans
to buy and send Nivea gift-sets to their loved ones with a special gift
wrapping paper. This wrapping paper will feature Facebook photos that both the
giver and receiver have been tagged in. The wrapping paper will also contain
comments both have made on each others' walls. As a part of the Feel Closer
campaign, this promotion is targeted at women above 30 to re-engage them through
the social network.

What do you think about these two
campaigns? Do you think the festive season will give the brands a boost? Let us
know in your comments below.
