Kalveer BiradarIn conversation with Kalveer Biradar, second brand prize winner in the Video category for Education Times's Education In 2020 competition...

What do you do?
I recently completed my graduation in Computer Science and am currently working on a start-up. I am a Social Media enthusiast. In my free time I work with animation and visual effects.

How long have you been in the industry?
I have been in advertising for almost a year now. Started with print ads and gradually my interest drew towards digital media and motion graphics. Advertising is a very good medium to showcase creativity; and both the artist and the brands are benefited by it. It's a win-win situation. The combination of commerce, technology and art is what intrigues me about advertising.

How did you hear about BrandPotion?
I googled "crowdsourcing video contests in India". BrandPotion came right on top of the list.

Name some ads that have inspired you to get creative.
The Teach India, I'm With Coco, and Kerala Tourism campaigns are some of the ads I've really enjoyed.

Teach India

How does it feel to have won a prize on BrandPotion?
Winning prizes and getting recognised on BrandPotion is very special and feels very good. It opens a lot of doors for an aspiring artist which, otherwise, is very difficult.

Tell us about the thought process behind your winning entry.
The importance of technology in the field of education is escalating. I wanted to portray that we have to deploy advanced technology to provide a meaningful education which can be constantly upgraded. The conservative approach to education has to be stopped. We have to embrace technology if we are to be ready for the future.

What software do you use to create your ads?
After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash

Which has been your favourite brief to work on-in terms of which was the most fun, and the most interesting?
This is the first competition on BrandPotion that I've participated in, and I had good fun creating the character and animating it for the "Education In 2020" contest.

What changes would you like to see on BrandPotion?
1) It would be amazing if BrandPotion could devote a section on the website where professionals can share how they go about making advertisements.
2) BrandPotion can host projects online which can be bid upon by artists.
3) Collaborate with ad agencies to bring internships/job opportunities to budding artists.
